User Setup
Overview
JOP extends the standard User Setup with additional fields that control the user's working area and access to JOP functionality.
The setup consists of three areas:
- Responsibility Center and Production Department – Defines the user's current working responsibility center and production department, as well as the responsibility centers and production departments the user is permitted to access.
- Manager Permissions – Determines whether the user is allowed to manage specialized JOP master data and business processes, such as routings, test plans, inspection certificates, price lists, JOP Items, and quarantine entries.
- Access Scope – For each manager role, you can specify whether the user has no access, access to all responsibility centers, or access only to selected responsibility centers and production departments.
Responsibility center and production department filters are automatically applied throughout JOP to ensure that users can access only the records that belong to their assigned working area. The user's current responsibility center and production department are also used as the default values when new JOP records are created.
Users who are authorized to work with multiple responsibility centers can switch their current responsibility center from the My Responsibility Centers part on the Role Center. This changes the user's current working area while remaining within the permitted access defined in User Setup.
Responsibility Center and Production Department Filters
The responsibility center and production department fields in User Setup determine:
- which JOP records the user can view,
- which responsibility center and production department are initially shown on list pages, and
- which values are assigned by default when the user creates a new JOP record.
The default fields identify the user's primary responsibility center and production department. The corresponding filter fields define the complete range of responsibility centers and production departments available to the user.
The filter type determines whether the user must work with the default value, can select another value within the permitted filter, or initially sees all records included in the permitted filter.
Filter types
- Fix — The page is restricted to the default responsibility center or production department. The user cannot change the filter to another value.
- Variable — The page initially shows records for the default responsibility center or production department. The user can change the page filter, but only to values included in the corresponding permitted filter.
- Filter — The page initially shows all records included in the permitted filter. The user can narrow the page filter but cannot access values outside the permitted filter.
On card pages, the permitted filter is applied as an access restriction. This ensures that users cannot open records for responsibility centers or production departments outside their assigned range.
Sales Resp. Ctr. Filter
The Sales Resp. Ctr. Filter field specifies the user's default responsibility center.
The responsibility center is used as the initial filter on JOP list pages when the responsibility center filter type is set to Fix or Variable.
It is also assigned as the default responsibility center when the user creates records such as routings, test plans, test plan templates, inspection certificates, price lists, batches, and process orders.
Enter one responsibility center code. The selected responsibility center must also be included in the Sales Resp. Centers Filter.
Users can change their current responsibility center from the My Responsibility Centers part on the Role Center, provided the selected responsibility center is included in the Sales Resp. Centers Filter.
Sales Resp. Centers Filter
The Sales Resp. Centers Filter field specifies the responsibility centers that the user is permitted to access in JOP.
You can enter a standard Business Central filter containing one or more responsibility center codes.
Examples
- BERLIN — Allows access only to responsibility center BERLIN.
- BERLIN|HAMBURG — Allows access to BERLIN and HAMBURG.
- 1000..1999 — Allows access to responsibility centers within the specified range.
The filter is applied to JOP pages containing responsibility-center-related records, including sales documents, routings, process orders, process folders, batches, test plans, inspection certificates, JOP Items, entries, and quarantine records.
When the filter type is Variable, this field defines the permitted range while Sales Resp. Ctr. Filter provides the initial page filter. When the filter type is Filter, this field is both the permitted range and the initial page filter.
Sales Resp. Center Filter Type
The Sales Resp. Center Filter Type field determines how the user's default responsibility center and permitted responsibility center filter are applied on JOP pages.
Available options
- Fix — Only records for the responsibility center entered in Sales Resp. Ctr. Filter are shown. The user cannot change the filter to another responsibility center.
- Variable — Pages initially show records for the responsibility center entered in Sales Resp. Ctr. Filter. The user can change the page filter to another responsibility center included in Sales Resp. Centers Filter.
- Filter — Pages initially show all records included in Sales Resp. Centers Filter. The user can narrow the filter but cannot access responsibility centers outside that filter.
Production Department Code
The Production Department Code field specifies the user's default production department.
The production department is used as the initial filter on JOP list pages when the production department filter type is set to Fix or Variable.
It is also assigned as the default production department when the user creates a JOP record for a responsibility center that uses production departments.
The field is required when the responsibility center entered in Sales Resp. Ctr. Filter has Production Departments enabled.
The selected production department should be included in the Prod. Department Filter.
Prod. Department Filter
The Prod. Department Filter field specifies the production departments that the user is permitted to access in JOP.
You can enter a standard Business Central filter containing one or more production department codes.
Examples
- COATING — Allows access only to production department COATING.
- COATING|HEAT — Allows access to COATING and HEAT.
- DEPT01..DEPT10 — Allows access to production departments within the specified range.
The filter is applied to JOP pages containing production-department-related records, including sales documents, routings, process orders, process folders, batches, test plans, inspection certificates, JOP Items, entries, and quarantine records.
When the filter type is Variable, this field defines the permitted range while Production Department Code provides the initial page filter. When the filter type is Filter, this field is both the permitted range and the initial page filter.
The production department filter is used only when the user's default responsibility center has Production Departments enabled. Otherwise, no production department filter is applied.
Prod. Department Filter Type
The Prod. Department Filter Type field determines how the user's default production department and permitted production department filter are applied on JOP pages.
Available options
- Fix — Only records for the production department entered in Production Department Code are shown. The user cannot change the filter to another production department.
- Variable — Pages initially show records for the production department entered in Production Department Code. The user can change the page filter to another production department included in Prod. Department Filter.
- Filter — Pages initially show all records included in Prod. Department Filter. The user can narrow the filter but cannot access production departments outside that filter.
This setting is relevant only when the user's default responsibility center has Production Departments enabled.
